Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
This policy explains what information Knife Medic collects, why, and what we do with it. It is written to be read.
Short version: we collect what we need to sharpen your knives and get them back to you. We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone except the software that runs our booking, payments, and messaging.
What we collect
When you book: your name, mobile number, email address, pickup address, how many knives and scissors, whether any need repair, any notes you add such as a gate code, and optionally how you heard about us.
When you type your address, our form checks it against Google Maps so we can find your house. That means your address goes to Google, and we store the map location Google gives back.
When you visit the site: which pages you viewed, how you got here including the referring site and any campaign tags in the link you clicked, and standard technical information such as browser type, device type, and approximate location from IP address.
Source information is stored in your browser for 90 days, then expires.
Cookies and similar technology
We use HubSpot analytics and Google Analytics, which set cookies to recognise returning visitors and understand which pages people use. We also store a small record of how you arrived in your browser's local storage, which expires after 90 days.
If you click one of our ads, we keep the click ID from that ad so we know which ad brought you here. We do not currently run retargeting or show you ads based on your visit. If that changes, we will update this page before it does.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser. The booking form still works.
Where your information goes
Your booking goes to HubSpot, our customer database, through Make.com, which connects our form to HubSpot. We use Quo for calls and text messages about your booking, and Stripe to send invoices and take payment. Our website runs on Framer, and we use Google Maps to check addresses and Google Analytics to see which pages people use.
That is the entire list. All are US-based services with their own privacy policies.
Stripe handles your card details directly. We never see or store your card number.
We do not sell your personal information. We never have and we have no plans to. We do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
How we use it
To pick up, sharpen, and return your knives
To contact you about your booking
To send a repair estimate before doing repair work
To send you an invoice after your knives are back
To plan efficient pickup and return runs
To understand which marketing brings in customers
To send occasional emails about our service, offers, or reminders your knives may be due
Text messages
We text you about your booking only. Confirming your pickup window, telling you your knives are ready, and reaching you if there is a problem.
We do not send marketing texts. If that changes, we will ask permission first, separately and clearly.
Message and data rates may apply.
You can stop our texts at any time by replying with any of these: stop, quit, end, revoke, opt out, cancel, or unsubscribe. Anything else that clearly says you want them to stop works too. We will stop within a few days at the outside.
One thing worth knowing: stopping our texts stops all of them, including the message telling you your knives are back on your porch. If you would rather keep those, tell us and we will call or email you instead.
If you book or submit our form, we may send occasional emails about our service. Every one has an unsubscribe link and we honour it promptly.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop booking messages, because you need those to get your knives back.
Photos and testimonials
We photograph knives at pickup and return as a record of their condition. A pickup photo sometimes shows part of your porch or door. Those photos are for our records only and we do not publish them.
We also sometimes photograph knives we have sharpened, including before and after shots, and would like to use them on our website and social media.
We will not publish a photo of your knives, your home, or anything identifying you, and we will not use your name or a quote from you, unless you give us permission in writing first. In writing means a signature, a text, or an email we keep. A verbal yes is not enough, on purpose, because it protects both of us.
Changed your mind about something already published? Email us and we will take it down.
How long we keep it
Booking records are kept while you are a customer and for a reasonable period after, so we know your history when you return.
The record of how you arrived at our site expires from your browser after 90 days. Website analytics are kept according to the retention settings of HubSpot and Google Analytics, which is longer than 90 days.
Your choices
Ask us to tell you what we hold, correct it, delete it, stop emailing you, stop texting you, or remove a photo or quote.
Email ryan@knife-medic.com. No forms, no process. We aim to respond within a few days.
Children
Our service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Security
We use reputable third-party services with their own security practices, and access to customer information is limited to the person running the business, which today is one person.
No system is perfectly secure. If we have a breach affecting your information, we will tell you promptly and directly.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the effective date. Material changes will be flagged clearly.
